RISD Architecture Lecture Hall

This winning entry in a private competition held by the Rhode Island School of Design attempts to embrace the many uses of the lecture hall by allowing the raked seating to be rearranged into room dividers and presenation space. The skin of the lecture hall is a porous wood shell that conceals lighting, sprinklers and air conditioning. This skin becomes dense at the entrance spilling into the lobby, and becomes a threshold and billboard for the hall beyond.
